2021 is in full swing and with that comes new changes to the Health Insurance Marketplace, which is known as Access Health CT in the state of Connecticut.
You may have recently heard about the American Rescue Plan Act that President Biden has signed into law and might be wondering how it affects you.
As of May 1, 2021 individuals who are seeking coverage, or who are already enrolled through Access Health CT, may see enhanced discounts on premiums. The American Rescue Plan significantly increases the amount of premium tax credit people can receive. Individuals who did not qualify for tax credits before, due to having a higher income, may now be eligible for premium savings.
Additionally, beginning in July, Connecticut residents who are approved for unemployment benefits at any point in 2021 will be eligible for a subsidy that provides a nearly zero premium and reduced deductibles on Silver level plans.
Individuals who are currently enrolled in a health insurance plan should update their application to receive the lower premiums they may be eligible for. Under the ongoing Covid-19 special enrollment period anyone who is uninsured can enroll in health insurance until August 15, 2021.
As always, we are here for you and can answer any questions or assist you with updating your application. We can also help anyone who currently finds themselves without health insurance obtain the coverage they need.
