Protect Consumer Access to Licensed Health Insurance Advisors

We’re writing this, not just as an insurance agency, but as a part of the same community we've served for 20+ years. We need your help protecting the role of our health insurance agents as trusted advisors and client advocates.

Why This Matters To You

If you or a family member has worked with us to help make their Medicare decisions, or has needed assistance navigating enrollments through Access Health CT, you know how valuable it is to sit down with someone you trust.

Even if you haven't worked with our Health Insurance team directly, our agents may have assisted with your personal insurance, or business coverage, and you know how important it is to have real people you can call, meet with, and rely on when questions come up or situations get complicated.

Right now, that kind of support, especially for health insurance, is starting to change.

The Issue

Across the industry, there are shifts happening that are reducing the availability of licensed, local health insurance advisors:

1. Insurance carriers have eliminated agent compensation or reduced it to near zero. We are essentially being asked to work for free which will not be sustainable long term.
2. Those needing coverage are being directed to rely more on online tools and automated systems to choose and manage their health insurance coverage.

While technology can be useful, it doesn’t replace what matters most to so many of the clients we work with:

• Sitting down with someone who takes the time to understand your situation
• Asking questions and getting clear, personalized answers
• Having a trusted contact when something goes wrong
• Working with someone accountable and part of your community

For many people, especially seniors, families navigating changes, or anyone who prefers or needs in‑person guidance, this kind of support isn’t just helpful, it’s essential.

What We're Asking

To help bring attention to this, we have created a petition asking the Connecticut Insurance Commissioner to review these changes and help ensure that access to licensed, human guidance remains available in our communities.
