Annual Green Corn Festival

Description

Save The Date! The Annual Green Corn Festival will be held at the River Walk Pavilion on Sunday, August 13th from 12:00 – 4:00pm – rain or shine!

Corn is an integral part of the annual life cycle of Native American people. When the first tender ears are ripe for picking it is cause for celebration. Welcome the first corn of the season with exciting activities including drumming, dancing, children’s activities, flute music by Allan Madahbee (Ojibwe), vendors, stories and more!

We are excited to welcome the Native Nations Dance Troupe led by Erin Lamb Meeches (Schaghticoke). While enjoying the dancing and activities, get some refreshments from featured food vendors, including Jason Cogswell Lamb, Schaghticoke, of Mashquanon’s Wetu (which means “Nighthawk’s House” and features contemporary and traditional Indigenous cuisine), GV Bites Food Truck (Colombian Fusion), and Polar Sweets Ice Cream (More than 40 flavors!).

Join the fun at the 18th Annual Green Corn Festival! Questions? Please call (860) 868-0518 or email events@iaismuseum.org.
